About Journal

Mechanical Engineering Research (MER) is an international, double‑anonymized peer‑reviewed, open‑access journal published by the Canadian Center of Science and Education. The journal publishes original research articles, applied studies, and educational articles in the fields of mechanical engineering.


Authors are encouraged to submit complete, original, unpublished manuscripts that are not under review by any other journal. All published articles are freely available online.


Focus and Scope

Mechanical Engineering Research publishes original research, applied studies, and rigorous reviews on mechanical components, processes, machines, and systems. Topics include solid and computational mechanics; structural analysis; fluid mechanics and thermal engineering; mechanical design, machine elements, and tribology; manufacturing and material-processing technologies; dynamics, vibration, and noise control; robotics, mechatronics, and intelligent mechanical systems; energy machinery and thermal-energy conversion; materials and surface modification for mechanical service; condition monitoring, fault diagnosis, reliability, and quality; computer-aided engineering, simulation, testing, and measurement.

Research and applied studies must identify a mechanical-engineering question and demonstrate a measurable advance in performance, design, manufacture, control, operation, maintenance, safety, or reliability. Reviews must critically synthesize a defined mechanical-engineering problem and identify transferable conclusions.

Interdisciplinary work in materials, computing, energy, or systems engineering is welcome when the principal contribution and validation concern a mechanical system. Studies of standards, industrial implementation, engineering management, or education may be considered only when they use a rigorous method and yield transferable evidence for mechanical-engineering decisions or practice.

The journal does not consider general policy or economic analysis, purely historical narratives, routine product testing, or generic algorithms and software that lack a substantive mechanical-engineering contribution.
