Quaternized Chitosan as an Efficient Catalyst for Synthesis of N-alkylthio-phthalimides

Abstract

A practical and efficient synthesis of N-alkylthio-phthalimides by the reaction of N-chlorophthalimide with
thiols catalyzed by quaternized chitosan was described. The reactions were carried out in relatively mild
conditions, and a variety of N-alkylthio-phthalimides were efficiently prepared with moderate to good yields.
