The Effects of Chemotherapy on the Contrast Sensitivity Function of Breast Cancer Patients
Abstract
The aim of this study was to determine the contrast sensitivity curves of sine-wave gratings with spatial
frequencies of women diagnosed with breast cancer compared to healthy women. The contrast threshold was
measured using a temporal two-alternative forced choice psychophysical method. The results showed that all of
the participants in the experimental group displayed lower contrast sensitivity for all tested frequencies than
those in the control group. The results suggest that the use of chemotherapy drugs can alter the visual perception
of sinusoidal grade stimuli.
