Abstract

The inhibition of corrosion of carbon steel in 2 N H3PO4 by 1-benzoyl-4-phenyl-3-thiosemicarbazide has been investigated by potentiodynamic polarization and ac impedance techniques. The results showed that inhibitor performance depends on both concentration and temperature. The increasing of temperature reduces the inhibition efficiency. Polarization studied revealed that these compounds behave as mixed-type inhibitors. The inhibition action of 1-benzoyl-4-phenyl-3-thiosemicarbazide was performed via adsorption of this compound on carbon steel surface. The adsorption was spontaneous and followed Langmuir adsorption isotherm. Some thermodynamic parameters are calculated and discussed.
